Green Party Insanity

Okay, so I knew there were a lot of things that I didn't like about the Green Party. Things like socialized medicine, living wage, etc.

But now we get to a "Holy Crap" moment. Hell, that really doesn't even begin to describe it.

"Individuals who work should make enough to support their families, starting with providing them with decent housing, food and clothing. Instead, our politicians refuse to give the poorest workers a pay-raise while CEOs raid their companies to pad their own pockets. We need a minimum wage of at least $10 an hour while enacting a reasonable maximum wage as FDR proposed back in the '40s," added McReynolds.

(emphasis added)

Holy CRAP!

A MAXIMUM WAGE?

I first caught a glimpse of this from the /. questions/interview for David Cobb, where someone mentioned this, and said that it was actually a plank of "the other green party" , and sure enough, it is. So, I figured I'd check if the Green Party that is running Cobb has that as a plank too.

They don't mention it anywhere in their platform statements. Then I found the press release that contains the quote above, for a candidate they are running for Senate.

Holy Crap! A MAXIMUM WAGE?

I'm sure that any amount they chose would have to be far and above what I make now, and what I expect to make. However, at the moment, I *hope* to someday make a large wage. I'd like to make enough that the Greens would think I made an obscene amount of money. I could deal with that.

I'd like to think I could be worth that. It's possible. With hard work, and becoming an expert in whatever field it might be (or creating a new field), it could happen. Hell, it's the American Dream, isn't it?

I don't like to hear about CEOs getting bonuses when they lay off a bunch of people, I don't like to hear about the decadent parties that they might throw, but how in the hell is it any of the government's business deciding how much these people's labor is worth? What gives them the right?

Mark my words. If the government ever says that I don't deserve more than some arbitrary number, even though I have earned it, and puts a 100% tax on any income over a certain amount, that'll be it. No more work for me. I like to think there are others that would think the same way.

Holy Crap! I just can't comprehend how these people can say things like that with a straight face.

Well, the mask sure is off, isn't it?

The Green Party is like a watermelon: green on the outside, red on the inside.

Yeah, if they ever managed to implement their ideals, America would quickly become a third world hellhole just like Mexico or Colombia.

Hmmmm, how exactly do they expect to increase everyones standard of living when they set out to limit the amount of money they can feasibly rob from someone... I knew socialists weren't that bright, but one would assume that even petty thieves know that they get the best returns from the affluent. I wonder if they just randomly pick ideas out of a big "red" hat without even worrying if they make a coherent policy. Makes you wonder.
